Bridge Project Challenge
Project Summary
- This project was challenging yet fun. We had to build a bridge that would meet requirements and would be able to withstand the mass of weights. To prepare for this project we did two different activities. The first was with pospsicle sticks, we had to build a small structure that would hold heavy text books. The other activity had to do with Newton's Laws, we got separated into different groups and each group researched a different law and made a movie advertisement poster that was associated with the law they were assigned. Our final project was disqualified because it was over the weight requirement, it didn't measure 2cm where 40cm hit, plus our bridge only held the test kit because it was placed wrong and Mr. Rice was being a bully and crushed it (just giving you a hard time Mr. Rice no harm meant).
- The skills I learned during this project were lots of patients, teamwork, and communication.
- The content I learned during this project was the different types of bridges there is, how they functioned, how a bridge reacts to different effect of nature and man, and how Newton's laws function. This helped us on our project because it made us think of how we needed to structure our bridge so it would hold the mass of weights and distribute the force applied to it.
Evidence of Learning
Work Sample 1 - I included this work sample because it is an extension to this reflection and explains our project more.
Work Sample 2 - I included this work sample because it shows our bridge after it broke, plus we forgot to take pictures of it before it broke.
Reflection
- My strengths in this project were having patients and understanding the content and physics behind bridges.
- My weaknesses in this project were not measuring while we constucted.
- If I had this project to do over, I would weigh the bridge while we constructed it, measured the structure more thoroughly before going furthure into construction.
